Tattoo-REACH what will change from January 2022
In 2021 we are in the transitional phase of Commission Regulation (EU) 2020/2021, also known as: Tattoo-REACH, which will come into full effect on January 4th, 2022.
A large part of the tattoo colors - if not all of the colors currently on the market - with a few exceptions are affected by the new regulation.
Since, in addition to the well-known pigments Green 7 and Blue 15, the amount of certain additives (e.g. as preservatives), other pigments and impurities are reduced to such a low detection limit that this makes it impossible to manufacture most tattoo colors, most tattoo colors are also used with disappear at the beginning of 2022. Means from January 4, 2022 these colors may no longer be sold, bought or stored.
For various reasons, the manufacturers of these brands have not yet succeeded in replacing the ingredients that will soon no longer be permitted, pigments with others in order to guarantee the consistent quality of the shades concerned. Unfortunately, we have not received enough information from our suppliers as to when alternatives can be expected.
But you can be sure that heads are spinning in the background.
Even though the child seems to have fallen into the well, the Save the Pigments petition continues. And still every vote counts, yours, your customers, friends and supporters. Makes the voice behind the tattoo industry louder - shows the cohesion. Maybe we can still turn things around and be perceived as a large unit.
